Representative Projects
SF PUC PM Training
A project management training contract with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission in 2011 and 20012. The contract called for two stages – an assessment of staff capabilities and the design and presentation of project management instruction based on the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge. A representative sample of the PUC’s project managers was selected with the assistance of the Division manager. Staff were interviewed via telephone using a standardized set of questions. The questions were designed to assess staff knowledge, skills and abilities with PMI project management protocols. A deficiency list was generated and prioritized by the Division manager who decided that instruction on project cost management principals were most needed at that time. Mr. Abron designed and wrote an eight-hour presentation delivered over four days at SF PUC headquarters. The cost management presentation was aligned with PMI’s cost management methodology, yet customized to an engineering project oriented organization such as the PUC. The presentation was delivered by a contract staff person trained by Mr. Abron.
Bay Area Rapid Transit District
Mr. Abron executed a contract with BART to provide project construction management training to designers, consultants, and contractors who would potentially bid and work on BART projects. The program was jointly sponsored by BART’s Engineering Group and Office of Civil Rights to enhance new vendor outreach for the Warm Springs Extension construction program. Mr. Abron designed, authored and presented a group of four seminars covering the PMI Body of Knowledge areas of scope, time, and cost. The specific seminar names/topics were Project Estimating for Bid, Interpreting Construction Specifications, Change Orders and Force Account Management, and Construction Scheduling Using P6. The group of four seminars were presented once weekly with the entire group twice between Fall 2010 and Spring 2011.
